The UMKC Law Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the support and advancement of the UMKC School of Law in partnership with the Law Alumni Association.
Together, the UMKC Law Foundation and Law Alumni Association work to deepen the connections alumni and friends have to the School of Law and provide financial support for academic enhancement and outreach. Each year, the Foundation distributes more than $200,000 in scholarship aid to students and additional support for technology, programming, lectures and library acquisitions. The Law Alumni Association presents several events, including the annual signature gala.

About the UMKC Law Foundation

Incorporated in 1959 as a nonprofit corporation, the mission of the UMKC Law Foundation is to ensure the continued success of the UMKC School of Law.

Governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees made up of law alumni and faculty, the UMKC Law Foundation seeks to advance legal education by providing enhanced resources for UMKC law students and faculty. In partnership with the Law Alumni Association Board of Directors, the UMKC Law Foundation also nurtures engagement from alumni and friends of the law school.

The Foundation board has the fiduciary responsibility of managing the endowed funds held by the UMKC Law Foundation. Gifts to the unrestricted annual fund are dedicated to enhancing student experience, fostering alumni communications, supporting student success, and underwriting faculty members’ research.

Charitable priorities for the School of Law include support for the student bar preparation program, scholarships, capital investments for updates to student-facing areas of the law building, funding toward the Launch to the Profession fund (including student emergency support) and unrestricted donations.
