Join us on Saturday, March 8th and enjoy an opportunity to interact with your peers and the UMKC Law community. The day will include a mock class, financial aid information, opportunities to speak with faculty and deans, visit with current students, learn about academic and student organization offerings, and attend a reception with alumni.
Two $250.00 non-refundable seat deposits will be required to ensure your seat in the class for 2025, and this amount will be credited toward your tuition bill. If you are a Summer or Fall Start student and were admitted prior to March 15, the first $250.00 will be due April 1. If you are a Summer Start student, the second $250 seat deposit is due May 1. For Fall Start students, the second $250 is due May 15. For those admitted after March 15, please refer to your admittance email letter or your Applicant Portal for your seat deposit deadlines.
Seat deposit payments may be paid online via the Cashier’s Office at law.umkc.edu/seatdeposit.
The enrollment process will not begin until mid-April for Summer Start students and mid-summer for Fall Starters; detailed information and instructions on how to enroll in classes will be sent to students who have paid both seat deposits shortly before enrollment opens. Admitted students will begin receiving information from the University about their Single Sign On (SSO), i.e. User ID, sometime in the spring (mid-November for spring starters). Once students are successfully set up with their SSO and password, they will also be able to gain access to the University’s Pathway system through which students access all academic information, including enrollment.
Please note: entering first-year law students will be assigned their specific courses and sections, with the exception of Summer Start students. Incoming students will receive an email with their section and course assignments, and there will be a ‘hold’ on enrollment until these section assignments have been sent out.
Applicants should apply for financial aid as soon as possible after October 1, 2025. You should apply online at studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. Our Title IV School Code is 002518. If you require a paper application, please contact the financial aid office at finaid@umkc.edu.
*If you are a Summer Start student, you will also need to file a FAFSA for the 2024-2025 year for summer loans. If you already filed with your undergraduate institution, make sure you have added UMKC as a recipient.

Financial Aid Presentation by Mark Corona, a UMKC Financial Aid specialist. Note: Full-time law students are not allowed to work in their first year, so the work study information in the video does not apply. Questions about financial aid can be directed to Steve Barnes 816-235-5742 or barnessm@umkc.edu
The investment in your law degree begins even before your first day of classes. AccessLex is a national organization whose goal is to provide information about the cost of law school. They have put together the Paying for Law School guide to help better prepare you for the financial undertaking.
Although most scholarships at UMKC School of Law do not require a separate application, there are a few that do. Additional scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 can be found at https://law.umkc.edu/admissions/scholarship-applications.html.
The following are resources to search for external scholarships. The law school will also post external scholarship opportunities as we receive them.
If you did not have a final transcript sent to LSAC, please arrange to have an official final transcript sent to us directly from the undergraduate school you graduated from. The preferred method of submission is electronically to the law school at law@umkc.edu. If your school does not allow electronic submission, they can be mailed to UMKC School of Law Admissions Office, 500 E. 52nd Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64110.
The Law School must receive the official transcript showing your degree by Orientation.
