2022 recipients of the Deans of the Trial Bar Award from the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association

Two UMKC Law Alumnae are the 2022 recipients of the Deans of the Trial Bar Award from the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. The award recognizes attorneys who have had substantial and distinguished trial careers of KCMBA members whose exemplary litigation skill and professional demeanor have received recognition by their peers. 

 Hon. Jane Pansing Brown (J.D. ‘82) has been a trail-blazer and leader in the profession.  She was the first woman to be named partner in a Clay County law firm and Clay County’s first female judge. Before assuming her current role as Counsel to the Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri, she was an assistant U.S. attorney in Kansas City, specializing in tackling fraud and corruption cases.  Brown is a member of the UMKC Law Foundation Board of Trustees.  Daphne R. Halderman (J.D. ‘84) is a partner with McCausland, Barrett and Bartalos, P.C., and has served as a mediator in over 700 mediations involving personal injury, employment, business, community, and family disputes. She also has served as an adjunct professor at UMKC School of Law.
