2022 Baron of the Boardroom Award from the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association

Congratulations to our alumni recipients of the 2022 Baron of the Boardroom Award from the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. The Baron of the Boardroom Award recognizes members whose business and corporate accomplishments and professional demeanor are recognized as exemplary by their peers. Ulysses (Deke) M. Clayborn (J.D. ’81) has practiced real estate and transactional law as a managing member of Clayborn & Associates, LLC, for more than 25 years. He has served as counsel on numerous development projects, including multifamily revenue bonds, low-income housing tax credits, historic tax credits, New Market Tax Credits, and HUD-insured financing. Recently, he was appointed by President Biden as the Region 7 Administrator of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), serving Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and nine tribal nations.  Julius M. Oswald (J.D. ’67) practices in business, real estate and school law. He has served as counsel for the Blue Springs R-IV School District and other school districts for over 40 years. Oswald has chaired various state and local bar association school law committees and has served as the State Chairman of the Missouri School Board Association’s Council of School Attorneys. In 1998, he was honored as the Blue Springs Citizen of the Year.
