UMKC School of Law Child & Family Law Program Awarded A+ Rating

The National Jurist's preLaw magazine recognizes UMKC Law Child & Family Program.

UMKC School of Law’s Child and Family Law program is featured in the Fall issue of National Jurist’s preLaw magazine (2021, Vol 25, No. 1). The magazine awarded the program an A+ in its annual rankings, a rating given to only six schools nationally.

The UMKC Law Child and Family Program provides many opportunities to prepare students who are pursuing a career in this challenging area of law. The Law School has two in-house child and family law clinics and numerous internship opportunities. The clinic functions as a law firm within the school for hands-on litigation experience.

UMKC is one of the only law schools in the country that offers an emphasis in child and family law in both the J.D. and LL.M programs. The school publishes one of the few family law journals in the country. The Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers is in its 30th year of publication.

Other unique aspects of the program include a focused study-abroad experience in Mérida, Mexico, and a partnership with the ABA Family Law section for its trail advocacy program.
