UMKC Moot Court Team Competes

UMKC Moot Court Team competed in the regional competition of the New York City Bar Association's Nation Moot Court Competition in November.

UMKC School of Law’s National Moot Court Team competed in the regional competition of the New York City Bar Association’s National Moot Court Competition in November. For the second straight year, UMKC Law was one of only two schools in this region to have two teams get to the quarterfinals. The UMKC teams lost in that round this year to the teams that took first and second place in the region.

Each year, teams from about 150 law schools compete in the National Moot Court Competition. Our regional competition this year included schools from Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.  Sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Young Lawyers Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the competition focuses on developing skills in appellate advocacy. Team members research and write full appellate briefs and present oral argument. Although the competition is traditionally held in person, for a second straight year it was held virtually.
