Since 1978, the UMKC School of Law has been providing high-quality continuing legal education seminars and events to professionals in the Kansas City legal community and beyond. This year, the UMKC School of Law Continuing Legal Education (CLE) department as the number one CLE provider in Kansas by the the Kansas CLE Commission.
Traditional CLE Courses are in-person programs. This year, UMKC offered 78 traditional CLE courses and participants attended a total of 15,801 hours. This number accounted for 9.47% of all Kansas hours offered by CLE programs.
UMKC CLE also offered 44 non-traditional (OnDemand and Webcast) programs, and attendees racked up a total of 731.5 hours. UMKC CLE has continued to developed its non-traditional programs, especially since Kansas now allows attorneys to receive their annual hours via webcast.
For the year of 2017-2018, UMKC CLE plans to continue increasing the number of traditional and non-traditional events. CLE always tries to cover a range of topics closely related to the legal industry from legal issues to lawyering skills, and the necessary knowledge for lawyers to thrive in the advancing technological world. The department hopes to replicate programs that have proven successful and popular in Kansas City in St. Louis, Springfield and Wichita. In addition, UMKC CLE plans to offer more new and innovative practice management sessions and potentially weekend programs to accommodate more schedules.
UMKC CLE continues to strive to offer the best programs for legal professionals, and they look forward to another year of serving Kansas and Missouri.
