Several available programs are organized by law school consortia, but you can organize your own overseas experience through UMKC's partner schools in Asia, Europe and South America. UMKC students in recent years have studied in England and Italy. If you would like to pursue semester-long study abroad, you should meet with the Associate Dean for Students to discuss your objectives, options and to begin planning. The objectives of a student undertaking law study abroad during the J.D. program are 1) to obtain a deeper understanding of cross-cultural communication specific to the country in which the student studies, 2) to obtain knowledge of the laws and legal system of the country in which the student studies, and 3) to advance the student learning outcomes of the UMKC School of Law in the context of the cultural and legal environment of country in which the student studies.
UMKC School of Law is approved by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions of the American Bar Association, 321, North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60654, 312-988-6738.
