August 2017 Class Notes

1970s

The Honorable Robert E. Larsen (’73) received the Spurgeon Smithson Award  from the 2017 Missouri Bar Foundation and Public Service Awards.

Dwight K. Scroggins, Jr. (’79) received the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys Prosecutor of the Year Award from the 2017 Missouri Bar Foundation and Public Service Awards.

1980s

Anita Rodarte (‘84) was honored as the Family Law Practitioner of the Year in the Kansas City, Missouri area. Anita is a shareholder with Bernstein, Rodarte & Hatheway, P.C.

1990s

Patricia M. Scaglia (’97) received the President’s Award from the 2017 Missouri Bar Foundation and Public Service Awards.

2000s

Phyllis A. Norman (’03) received the President’s Award from the 2017 Missouri Bar Foundation and Public Service Awards.

Thomas J. Porto (’07) received the Lon O. Hocker Trial Lawyer Award from the 2017 Missouri Bar Foundation and Public Service Awards.

2010s

Nicholas S. Beydler (’13)  received the David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award from the 2017 Missouri Bar Foundation and Public Service Awards.

Kenneth Kinney (’14) has partnered with Thomas Ralston (’08) to start a new law firm of Ralston Kinney, LLC. The firm will focus on representing victims of discrimination.

Danielle Atchison (’14) received the YLS Pro Bono Award from the 2017 Missouri Bar Foundation and Public Service Awards.

In Memoriam

The Honorable Don C.  Weldon (’80) passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2017. He was appointed in 1995 to Division 2 for the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court by Governor Mel Carnahan and was reelected to the position in 1998, 2004 and 2010 until his retirement in December 2016. He also served in the Missouri National Guard.
