At UMKC, we offer several options for obtaining your legal education. We offer the traditional Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, which is the first professional degree and is the degree generally required to become a member of the bar. While earning your J.D., you may also earn a second professional degree through one of our combined-degree programs. These include the J.D./MBA (Master’s in Business Administration), J.D./MPA (Master’s in Public Administration) and J.D./LL.M. (Tax). To learn more about these programs, click here.
In addition to the traditional J.D. program, we also offer an LL.M., or Master of Laws, which is an advanced degree in law for those who have already obtained a J.D. degree or its equivalent. We currently offer three options for the LL.M. degree: a General LL.M., an LL.M. in Tax, and an LL.M. for international students. To learn more about our LL.M. program, click here.
