Wendy Tolson Ross is the Director of the Child and Family Services Clinic. She graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1991 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Texas Tech University in 1988. She began her teaching career in 1999 at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas where she taught in the Civil Justice Clinic for 6 years and worked part-time as the Acting Associate Director of the Academic Excellence Program for 2 years while also teaching in the Clinic at St. Mary’s University. Professor Ross began teaching at Texas Tech University in 2005 and worked there for 18 years. During her time at Texas Tech University, she earned full tenure and was a Professor of Law. She served as the Director of the Civil Clinic, Director of the Family Law and Housing Clinic, and was responsible for the Bar Prep Program for 7 years and served as Co-Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, along with teaching Clinic. Additionally, she taught other courses, such as Race and Racism, Negotiations Workshop, Topics in Family Law, and Family Law.
Professor Ross has participated in several organizations and has won many awards. Some of the awards she has received have included: Lawyer of the Year Award, Mentor of the Year Award, Match of the Year Award, Texas Tech University Inclusive Excellence Award, and was selected as a member of the Texas Tech University Inaugural Class for President’s Leadership Institute.
Professor Ross has written several articles. Her early scholarly works have focused on Rights of Tenant’s and Tenant Law. Beginning in 2010, Ross’ articles have centered around issues in Family Law. Furthermore, she has published in several journals and has given several presentations on landlord/tenant issues and family law issues.
Prior to teaching, Professor Ross worked almost 8 years at West Texas Legal Services in Lubbock, Texas.
