UMKC’s Jessup International Moot Court team came within a single victory of advancing to the World Championships as it competed against 19 other teams February 20-22 in the Rocky Mountain Super Regional in Denver, Colo.

The student team of Kelly Hewitt, Anthony McDaniel and Seth Slayden started 5-0 before losing a close battle to Stanford University in the semifinal round of the competition. Hewitt was briefly hospitalized with an illness while in Denver, but managed to recover and join the competition to help the team.

“Their performance was truly outstanding and resulted from months of dedicated hard work on their part,” said the team’s coach, Professor Tim Lynch. “They represented UMKC extremely well.”
