Michael Boman has been Director of the Kansas City Tax Clinic since June 1, 2013 and served as Co-Director from August 2009 through May 2013. He is a 1978 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law. While a student at KU, Michael served as Note & Comment Editor of the Kansas Law Review and was conferred Order of the Coif recognition. Following graduation, he served a two-year clerkship with the Honorable Frank G. Theis, Chief U.S. District Judge for the District of Kansas. He joined IRS Chief Counsel in Kansas City, Missouri in 1980. He served as an attorney there for 29 years, most recently as Senior Counsel. In 1993, he was honored with the James B. Markham award for the outstanding field attorney in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel. He is a contributing editor to the ABA Section of Taxation’s practice manual, “Effectively Representing Your Client Before the IRS.” He is a member of both the Missouri and Kansas Bars and the United States Tax Court.
