Kelly Brewer joined UMKC School of Law as a visiting, assistant clinical professor in August 2016. He will be teaching Lawyering Skills. Brewer comes to us with the experience in teaching Legal Research and Writing at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. This past year, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Walton Pratt in Indiana, his third federal court clerkship. He also served as a legal writing instructor at his alma mater Valparaiso School of Law, where he obtained his JD in 2008, and his Bachelors in Psychology with a minor in Theology in 2001. Kelly worked as a social worker before attending law school. Kelly is married and has a two-year-old. He is an avid runner and is excited to be back in Kansas City close to his family.
