The Honorable George Carroll Berry (’46)

The Honorable George Carroll Berry (’46) passed away on June 12, 2016. George was the Judge of the Probate Division of the Circuit Court of Jackson County, MO for 23 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of UMKC School of Law Foundation and served as UMKC Law School Alumni President in 1979. Lantz Welch (‘59)

Lantz Welch (‘59) passed away on July 21, 2016. Lantz was a plaintiff’s attorney and represented victims of the Hyatt disaster including Sally Firestone. He served as president of the KCMBA 1977-1978. He was a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates and a Fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He was listed in “The Best Lawyers in America.”

Ronald J. Stites (’73)

Ronald J. Stites (’73) passed away on August 15, 2016. Following law school, he served two years as a Lieutenant in the 101st Airborne Division, including a year fighting in Vietnam. He was appointed a Missouri Conservation Commissioner by Governor Mel Carnahan. Ron served as President of MATA.

Ronald Nguyen (’11)

Ronald Nguyen (’11) has opened The Law Office of Ronald Nguyen, LLC in Kansas City, Missouri. Ron practiced more than 5 years at Legal Aid of Western Missouri. He was the Supervising Immigration Attorney and handled/supervised all Legal Aid immigration cases for the Western District of Missouri and Eastern District of Kansas. Ron’s firm will handle immigration, criminal, and personal injury cases.

Mark Dunmire (’10) joined The Hood Law Group as Of Counsel. He practices Wills, Trusts, Business Planning, General Civil Litigation, Tax Issues, Tax Planning, Art Law and Real Estate.

MaKenzi Higgins (’16) has joined with Mark A. Corder to form Higgins & Corder LLC. Higgins has a niche in her practice for Dental Law, including associateship contract, buy-outs, collection practices and practice consulting.

Brittany Boswell (’09)

Brittany Boswell (’09) has joined the law firm of Simmons Hanly Conroy. She focuses her practice on complex litigation matters, including mass torts, class actions and multidistrict litigation.

Mark Morgan (’95)

Mark Morgan (’95) served as the head of the training division of the FBI and has been appointed to head the U.S. Border Patrol. Morgan will oversee a multibillion-dollar annual budget at the agency in the crosshairs of the national debate about border security and immigration.

Mike Racy (’92)

Mike Racy (’92) has been selected as the next commissioner of the MIAA by the conference’s Chief Executive Officers Council.

Patrick Inerney (’90)

Patrick Inerney (’90) has joined the law firm of Spencer Fane.  His practice areas are litigation, health care and dispute resolution.
