John Robert Miller (’79)

John Robert Miller (’79) passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. He began his career as a trust officer with the First National Bank of Kansas City in 1982. He worked several years for Arthur Andersen and Commerce Bank. John worked for 20 years at Bank of America.

Thomas J. Cox, Jr.  (’62)

Thomas J. Cox, Jr.  (’62) passed away on November 8, 2017. Tom worked as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Jackson County and later in his career had his own law firm. He also served in The United States Navy.

Jasmine Fields (’16)

Jasmine Fields (’16) has joined the law firm of DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers Firm. Her practice area will be personal injury. Prior to joining the law firm, Jasmine was a victim advocate at the Kansas DUI Impact Center. 

Kristi Burmeister (’07)

Kristi Burmeister (’07) is opening a new law firm, Heritage Law LLC, located in Prairie Village, Kansas.  Before forming Heritage Law, Kristi was a partner at Shook, Hardy & Bacon.  At Heritage Law she will focus on estate planning and related litigation.  

Willard B. “Will” Bunch (’67)

Willard B. “Will” Bunch (’67) passed away on September 22, 2017. From 1968 – 1970, Will acted as the Chief of the Criminal Division for  Legal Aid and the Defender Society and became the Public Defender of the 16th Judicial Circuit from 1971-1974. He was appointed to and held the position of Jackson County Counselor from 1975-1978. He was a Special Hearing Officer for the Missouri State Tax Commission. Will maintained a private practice for over 30 years before his retirement. He was a United States Army Veteran. 

Andre Tinoco, Jr. (’17)

Andre Tinoco, Jr. (’17) has joined the firm of Shook, Hardy and Bacon, L.L.P. Andre defends companies against product liability litigation, focusing on Engle-progeny smoking and health matters.
