Terry E. Morgan (’01)

Terry E. Morgan (’01) passed away on May 25, 2014. Terry served in the U.S. Army and in law enforcement. After a 29-year career, he retired and attended UMKC School of Law.

Joseph Y. DeCuyper (’61)

Joseph Y. DeCuyper (’61) passed away on May 18, 2014. He practiced law in the Kansas City area for more than 45 years starting in 1961 as an associate with Linde, Thompson, Van Dyke, Fairchild & Langworthy. He was a Municipal Judge in Gladstone, MO, from 1967 to 1968. From 1968 to 1973, he became an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Clay County, MO. In 1971, he entered into partnership with Snowden, Crain and DeCuyper. Most recently DeCuyper practiced as a sole practitioner from his practice in North Kansas City, MO.

Peter M. Ossorio (’83) was appointed to the Uniform Jury Instructions – Criminal Committee of the New Mexico Supreme Court.

Thomas J. Jones, Jr. (‘72)

Thomas J. Jones, Jr. (‘72), 70, on March 31. Tom had his own law firm on the plaza, which focused on labor law.

Samuel C. Sherwood, Jr. (‘51’)

Samuel C. Sherwood, Jr. (‘51’), 90, on March 20. While in law school he was awarded Who’s Who of American Law Students and was included in the 1950-54 volume.

William E. O’Brien (’56)

William E. O’Brien (’56) passed away on April 25, 2014.

Hon. Calvin Hamilton (’56)

Hon. Calvin Hamilton (’56), our district’s first chief magistrate judge, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014. Cal graduated from UMKC Law School and began practicing, beginning what would be a 35-year legal career including serving as U.S. District Attorney and later appointed Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Judge Hamilton retired from public service in 1991.
