Purchase Sponsorships for 2025 Diversity Banquet
UMKC School of Law is dedicated to empowering its diverse law students to break barriers in the legal community. A law school that promotes diversity, in turn, empowers justice, innovation, community, progress, and change.
The Diverse Student Coalition was formed in 2019 by an eager group of law students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The Diverse Student Coalition is comprised of UMKC Law student representatives from the Black Law Students Association, the Latino Law Students Association, the Asian Pacific Islander Law Students Association, and OutLaws (UMKC’s LGBTQ+ Law Students Association).
The Diverse Student Coalition Endowed Scholarship is awarded each year to one or more incoming law students. Our goal is to establish a meaningful and sustainable scholarship that can significantly alleviate the financial burden of attending law school. Since our inception in 2019, the Diverse Student Coalition has awarded scholarships to 16 students and has raised more than $330,000 for the endowed scholarship with the help of our generous sponsors and the Estate of David Westfall ('55) Matching Gift Program (ended as of June 30, 2023) through the UMKC Law Foundation. We are proud of our past success, and we look forward to the continued growth of the Diverse Student Coalition Scholarship.
We host an Annual Diversity Banquet, with support from UMKC Law School’s Diverse Alumni Network, to raise funds for the Diverse Student Coalition Endowed Scholarship, to honor this year’s scholarship recipients, and to celebrate diversity in the legal community.
