Students, under supervision, represent workers in their appeals from the denial of unemployment compensation. Because many claimants cannot afford to pay attorneys to represent them, they likely have proceeded without the benefit of counsel during the administrative hearing stages, making denial of their claim very likely. Clinic students help these claimants appeal from these denials. Students write the briefs and argue these cases before the Missouri Court of Appeals-Western District, in some instances even taking these cases to the Missouri Supreme Court.
