UMKC School of Law
The UMKC School of Law and Law Review invite you to a historic presentation of some of the country's most famous school speech cases of the last 40 years. You'll have the unique opportunity to hear directly from the litigants' perspective, including John and Mary Beth Tinker, Chris Eckhardt, Cathy Kuhlmeier Frey, Hazelwood principal Gene Reynolds, Matthew Fraser, and Joe Frederick. Joining them will be attorneys who argued their cases, including the Honorable Ken Starr, the Honorable James Smart, and others.
The symposium offers CLE credit for attorneys and CE credits for educators. Admission is free for students, $50 for educators, $100 for the general public and $30 per CLE hour. The entire program's CLE credit will carry a maximum charge of $245. Missouri 13.5 hours (8.4 hours 9/20, 5.4 hours 9/21, no ethics credit), Kansas 12.5 hours applied for (8.0 hours 9/20, 4.5 hours 9/21, no ethics credit). UMKC's CLE office will provide a certificate of attendance which may be submitted by the attorney in other jurisdictions.
