Tuition and fees
Tuition and fees for 2012-2013, full-time first year law students who are Missouri residents: $17,539.68/year.Non-resident fees are an additional $16,667.34, but many students qualify for non-resident fee scholarships that allow them to pay the in-state rate.

Below is the approximate nine-month (fall/winter) academic year budget for a typical first-year law school student living off campus. All fee amounts are our best estimate at the time of publication, but the Board of Curators may change them at any time.

Residency
The university, not the law school, makes residency determinations. For information regarding establishing Missouri residency, please call the university’s residency office at 816-235-1111 or visit UMKC Admissions. Law school students are not eligible for the metro rate program.
Missouri Tax Scholarship
Students who are not Missouri residents and are assessed non-resident fees but work in Missouri and have a Missouri income tax liability may be eligible for a partial Missouri Tax Tuition Scholarship. Students with visa types of J-1 and F-1 are not eligible. Applications are available from the Cashier‘s Office and must be completed along with appropriate tax information.
Financial Aid and Scholarships
To qualify for federal aid programs that include grants and loans, fill out the FAFSA form online.
Most merit scholarships will be awarded at time of admission and information will be sent along with admissions letters. For a complete list of Law School scholarships, please refer to the scholarships page.
