The summer start program is designed to provide students a flexible scheduling option that will permit an early start, with either a shorter time to graduation or a more relaxed pace for the program, depending on how students schedule the remainder of their education. Just as in the first semester of law school, students will primarily be working on mastering the analytical skills of legal method and they will learn some foundational doctrinal concepts in the subject matter of the courses they take. If you are interested in starting in the summer or have questions, please contact the admissions office at email@example.com or 816-235-1644.
Enrollment and Eligibility
Students interested in participating in Summer Start must apply to the Law School by March 1. Summer Start is open to any admitted student, though seats in the Summer Start program are limited and will be filled in the order seat deposits are received. Two seat deposits of $250 are required for enrollment at UMKC Law, and students who intend to partake in the Summer Start program must pay both seat deposits by May 1.
The 2017 Summer Start schedule will begin with a mandatory orientation and overview program from May 15-19 which will provide an overview of law school academic strategies, an introduction to resources in the law school, and orientation to administrative aspects of law school (policies and resources). Summer start students will be taking the following:
- Torts – 3 credit hours (graduation requirement)
