Meet Our Team
Molly Wilensky joined UMKC Law in 2015. She serves as a career advisor for students and alumni.
Molly received her B.A. in English and Psychology from Drake University and her M.A. in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. While at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, she served as a Graduate Assistant in the Career Services office at the College of Business Administration. In this role, she supported and empowered undergraduate and graduate business students as they pursued their career goals. She also engaged regularly with employers to establish connections and learn industry trends and expectations.
Shannon O’Bryan joined UMKC Law in 2012. In addition to serving as a career advisor for students and alumni, Shannon is the program director for the Pro Bono Program.
Shannon received her B.S. in psychology from Truman State University and her J.D. from the University of Kansas. Immediately following law school, she worked as an associate attorney for the law firm of Lewis, Rice & Fingersh, specializing in the sale, acquisition, development and leasing of commercial real property, and was an active member of the recruiting committee. She conducted on-campus interviews at regional law schools and was heavily involved in the planning and implementation of the summer associate program. After five years, she joined the Session Law Firm as associate real estate counsel for the Port Authority of Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to joining UMKC Law, she served as in-house counsel for Benefits Direct.
Janell Avila is the part-time Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator. She started at UMKC Law in February 2016.
Janell is a first generation Bolivian-American as well as a 2002 graduate of the DePaul College of Law and a 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas. She has been a partner with Solorio & Avila Law Firm since 2006 and practices in the area of immigration law. Her responsibilities as the Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator will include establishing and executing programs promoting diversity as well as the professional preparation of diverse students; providing individual counseling tailored to the diverse student population; conducting employer outreach to enhance the professional and career development of diverse law students; facilitating serving as the liaison between the diverse law student population and UMKC’s various diversity resources; and operating the law school’s Diversity Initiatives Transition to Practice Program. Her part time position is funded by a grant from the Shook Hardy & Bacon (SHB) foundation.
Mallory Snyder joined UMKC Law in 2015. She serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Career Center.
Mallory received her B.A. in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. Prior to UMKC, Mallory worked in Early Education for five years and Secondary Education for two. In this position, Mallory maintains relationships with students and employers, coordinates on-campus interviews, manages the Symplicity job board, and assists in the daily operations of the office.
