Laptop Clinic

The Laptop Clinic is a free service available for currently enrolled UMKC law students. We will provide technical repair services for software & hardware related malfunctions on most devices.

What can we fix?  

  • Windows PC based computers
  • OS X Macintosh based computers         
  • iOS mobile devices     
  • Android based mobile devices  

Students are fully responsible for their own data. We will make every attempt to back-up and/or recover data if necessary. However, we can take no responsibility for the loss of data. 

In the event of hardware-related issues, we cannot take responsibility for any hardware device failures, though we will make every attempt to locate which device is failing along with a referral to the proper authorized manufacturer specialists. The Laptop Clinic Technician can install most accessible hardware components, i.e. memory, hard drives, motherboards etc. However, the technician assumes no liability for any hardware items provided by the student.   

*In the event of pirated and illegal software, we will not repair the system.

Warrantied devices
The Laptop Technician will not provide any hardware fixes for any devices under the manufacturer’s warranty. Any attempt to repair a device under warranty voids the warranty agreement.

Wireless configuration
The Laptop Technician will assist students with wireless connectivity on any capable devices.

ExamSoft™  
SofTest is an exam taking software available to law students for exam taking purposes. SofTest is used for most state Bar exams in your chosen jurisdiction(s). Visit the ExamSoft website for downloads and system requirements. Sign in using your Student ID and four-digit midterm number as your password.
