Giving

Each year, the Law Foundation distributes over $200,000 in scholarship funds to students at the School of Law, along with funds to bridge the gap between state support and what the school needs to provide outstanding legal education.

Why give?
  • The State of Missouri provides less than 10 percent of the annual budget of the School of Law.
  • As state funding has declined, tuition costs have risen dramatically. The typical new attorney graduates with more than $55,000 of indebtedness. Your gift to the School of Law helps reduce the amount of debt our students carry upon graduation through scholarship funds.
  • Your generosity helps us become more competitive and raises our standing nationally. Funds from the Law Foundation support programs that attract and retain distinguished legal scholars and help us compete with peer institutions to recruit a more talented and diverse student body.
  • Gifts to the Law Foundation also support clinics that provide students with direct legal experience while reaching out to the underserved in our local community. Clinics include the Entrepreneurial Legal Services Clinic, the Kansas City Tax Clinic, the Child and Family Services Clinic and the Midwest Innocence Project.

Your unrestricted gift gives us the flexibility to direct funding where it is most needed. However, you may also designate your gift for a particular purpose in the Law Foundation’s budget.
