With careful planning, students can spend a semester immersed in the study of law in a foreign culture. Most of these programs require a high level of foreign language proficiency, but some programs or courses in English are available in a growing number of countries. Several available programs are organized by law school consortia, but you can organize your own overseas experience through UMKC’s partner schools in Asia, Europe, or South America. UMKC students in recent years have studied in China, England, and Italy. If you would like to pursue semester-long study abroad, you should meet with the Associate Dean for International Programs to discuss your objectives, interest and options, and to begin planning.
